Mr and Mrs Iyer ---- a soulful story.

Mr and Mrs Iyer

This is probably the finest film i have seen in quite some time and a film that has left a deep impression on me , an impression which is not going to tear away for a long time to come.

For people who have not seen this amazing and thought provoking film , this is the story of Meenakshi a married lady , carrying her one year old child through a journey

The journey is marred by a communal riot in between and she is stuck in the middle of the journey , helpless and all alone.

A stranger to her in the bus , Jehanjir khan , a Muslim nickamed Raja in the film comes to her rescue and decides to help her through her way.

A quiet and silent relationship builds between Raja and Meenakshi through the journey which is what is main plot of the story

Meenakshi saves Raja from the hands of the Hindu fanatics looking out for the blood of Muslims as her husband and saves him from them.

She develops a sense of security with Raja and trusts him to the extent that she is ready to stay with him with his little child of hers in the middle of a forest in the lodge( to avoid the communal tension)

In the serene surroundings of the jungel are shown some of the most memorable moments of the movie.

The moments that they talk to each other are lyrical and i am sure if it could have easily been woven into romantic melody.

The simplicity with which the story is told and the charm that both the protagonists are able to produce makes you realize how beautiful and charming cinema can be how , never mind the tens of crap movies being made everyday which have no sense and direction.

The biggest message that this movie wants to give is that the human bond is above every other bond on this earth , above the bond of religion and caste.

While the story portraits around Raja and Meenakshi and their journey it does give out a very noble and human message in a simple and elegant manner.

This is a live reaction of a conglomerate of people after watching India being thrashed by England and the frantic celebrations that followed.

There was clapping and jubilation all around and the bay was filled with meaningless banter and repartee all around.

For a while I could not believe the situation and thought I was dreaming , India were thrashed mercilessly by this young England side and were given a virtual impossible target of 317 to chase and here are all the members of the team rejoicing as if we had won the match out of the skin.

I then realized a hard fact of life : when the situation comes out of control you do not ponder over in depression that this happened , rather you are left hopeless and smile at yourself accepting as if it were in your destiny and no matter how hard you could have tried this had to happen.

It was a belief on the part of the people here that now that India had virtually been outclassed in the series we could at least appreciate the brilliant and the ruthless batting on part of the England players especially “Mascarenhas” who just blew the Indian bowlers away.

By the end of the 45th over there was a belief all over the place that England could make around 270-280 runs and it was still a chaseable target , but all that was blown to pieces on the arrival of “Mascarenhas”.

We were hooked on the Internet and pushing F5 each few seconds to view the latest score but we did not quite expect the 5 sixes in the last over of the innings.

On every click of the F5 we could see the sixes column under Yuvraj singh incrementing one by one and could not help but smile at the situation.

What was even more surprising was the fact that after all this jubilation and people saying that they had lost all hope they stuck to the Internet once again after a break of 30 minutes or so again pressing the F5 key in perfect symphony.

They were again hoping for another miracle that has not happened for a few years now.

I too like the other optimistic Indian fans am hoping for an Indian revival and hope that at least we have a good start and wish that once I reach home we are on our way to do the impossible.

The Pursuit of Happyness

This is a movie about a man who is lost in life , who only has an aim in life to keep his family happy , NO MATTER WHAT and is deeply uninspiring in his efforts to do so.
Will smith playing the part of Chris Gardner is the protagonist of the movie with his real son playing his son in the movie as well as the cute little Christopher.
The movie is based on real life story of Chiris gardner and it belongs to the genre of films like The Gladiator , The patriot and Spider man movies which give you some food for thought once you have seen the movie and the characters still live on long after the film is over.
what is so inspiring about the movie is the fact that first , the story is based on a real life character and hence there is a sense of
palpability in thought the movie and the characters circumstances look like just the next door neighborhood man struggling for reasons you are not quite aware of and make fun of.
Chris is a family man but his relations with his wife are not quite going in the right direction and reaches a stage where his wife leaves him. He now takes over the responsibility of bringing up his son Christopher.
This is a story about his struggles and the courage that he shows in all those times of struggle to come out of it and finally find Happiness in life , which is what touches the audience.
The courage and confidence that this person shows in adverse times of difficulty is what everybody needs to learn from here , we all lose our patience in times of trouble but that's not the way to go , is the message behind the movie.
this is one of the most heart warming and moving as well as inspirational movie you are ever going to find.
If we keep trying and keep moving ahead not thinking of the failures that may lie ahead then we will succeed in life is the lesson that is so well depicted here.
there are scenes in the movie which will make you cry and make you move like the one in which the father and the son spend the night in a public bathroom since they have nowhere to go and Chris is crying through the night while his son sleeps in his arms , knowing his son does not deserve this kind of a place to sleep around.
there have been movies which would make you cry for the wrong reasons but this is one film which i am sure every person must have sulked at least a few tears. After all in everybody of us there is a father or a son and we all can identify with them.
I am not a die hard will smith fan and i have probably avoided his movies before , a few of them have made me cry in the other senses like the Wild Wild west kind but for me Will smith deservedly was nominated for the Oscar's , his performance is so relatable and real you feel you need to do something for this man who is there right next to you.
There are seldom movies which have a teaching in them but this one falls into one of those rare genre of films , highly recommended for people with family , especially parents.

Jo Jeeta wahi Sikandar --- my views

This is one movie which I have never been tired of seeing after many watches.

While watching the movie just a few days back I was thinking what is it in this movie that makes me move or makes me see the movie again and again so I am writing this review to answer some of the questions I always asked to myself in search of answers.

The main and the most important ingredient for a movie is its story and with this film too the story is written with so much of reality creeping into it you can identify with the characters here.

There is a Sanju (Aamir khan) in all of us, and there is his big brother we all can identify with, the next door girl (Ayesha Julka) who is in love with Aamir , nearly all the characters are like we all have in us.

The way the character of Aamir khan evolves from being an arrogant and juvenile kind of individual to he being transformed into a man who is ready to take on the responsibilities of his family is truly inspiring as well as stimulating to see.

The climax of the movie is made in the genre of a Hollywood movie but like many others this one is appealing and worth a watch.

The way Sanju alias Aamir khan races with the villain Deepak Tijori is one of the best scenes of the movie , although it’s a bit long then it should be it does not mind you since its highly entertaining and you kind of support him when he is racing on his cycle trying to win the race.

I had tears in my eyes once Aamir won the race in the end and was just so numb I couldn't’t really think of anything else for sometime.

This is one movie I would recommend everybody should see not only for the story but also for the win for human spirit that it epitomizes.

Honey Moon travels pvt ltd ----a worthless watch

I had read Rajeev Masand reviews on the movie Red a few days back where he said that there are some movies which should never be made and i think many people would disagree with me that “HoneyMoon Travels” is also another movie which is into the same category.

I have seen a lot of movies in my life and have seldom found a movie which does not any positive that one cannot take home but this movie was probably just that kind of movie.

The only bright point of the movie is the couple of Boman Irani and Shabana Azmi but you cannot see more of them too as they are woven in a world which does not quite belong to them.

There is absolutely nothing pragmatic about the characters of the movie and the way the movie is narrated you just cannot stop laughing at the person who thought of this weird way of revealing the plot of the movie.

There were moments in the film where I just could not think of the logic behind the scene and was laughing at just the innovativeness of the director like the one where Bobby deol and Minisha lamba reveal to each other that they are both super humans. Of course movies on superheroes have been made and some of them have been really good too but (one example is Krishh) but this one just does not make any real sense.

Apart from Raima sen and Kay Kay who was the best looking couple in the movie and the most entertaining too all others story was told so derisorily and ludicrously that i was left thinking what on earth is going on.

There are other ways too of making a person laugh, see Munnabhai for eg which is what we call the perfect comedy but this was nothing close to that.

Anyway if someone liked it i do not have any hitch in that but for me it was a waste of both time and money and a waste of talents of so many accomplished actors working in the movie.
